A relaxing weekend close to the bush
Forrest is small and peaceful (it is in winter anyway), so the fact The Wren's Nest is just a step back from the main road in the middle of town is no problem. It's quiet and relaxing and just a short stroll to great food and supplies. The house has a wood fire, big bath, cosy lounge and beautifully designed kitchen/dining space opening out to a tranquil rear deck. A couple of minor touches would take The Wren's Nest from Excellent to Perfect. The lighting in the bedrooms is a bit harsh and could do with a couple of small bedside lamps. Similarly, a couple of additional lamps in the lounge room would make it so much cosier. Something to play music on would also be great - We had to play music through our iPad, which was ok, but a small CD player or digital radio would be ideal. We didn't meet the host, but that wasn't an issue as the set up was extremely straight forward. We couldn't get a phone signal, but we're not with Telstra - a common issue away from a major population centre. The WIFI is seamless and Netflix is laid on, but we didn't use either - the country air, nature, roaring fire and great food got in the way! There are lots of stunning nearby walks and mountain bike tracks. The start of the beautiful Fern Gully track is a short walk from the house and the amazing Lake Elizabeth is a 10 minute drive away. Two gorgeous walks that shouldn't be missed! I intend to come back again for the walking and would happily stay at the The Wren's Nest when I do.

Great stay
Great place, bigger than we thought it would be. Only a 30sec walk from the brewery, and a great base for exploring the Otways. Loved it. Comfy bed, excellent kitchen, Netflix, fireplace (but also split systems if needed), and big bathroom. The worst thing about it was we didn't see the koala that sometimes visits!

Exactly what we were after, thank you.

Wrens Nest
Pros: Nicely furnished and fire is good. Kitchen well stocked with equipment. Cons: The second bedroom was made up as two singles rather than the double which should have been fairly obvious given the description of guests provided. This was just annoying though not a game changer. Unfortunately the light in the living room didn't work at all and second bedroom light is so dim you have to use your phone torch to see anything making these rooms pointless after dark. The main bedroom had dead flies and spiders on the floor, wall and over the pillows and bed linen which was rather shocking and made the stay very disappointing and unappealing. This was only noticed when going to bed quite late and being busy wanting to get out and enjoy our stay with oversees visitors didn't report it at the time. Unsure when the property was last checked before our arrival? I am happy to send photos through of this if interested.
